About this study
Are you a physically active man between the ages of 18-40 and interested in military training programs? You may be eligible to participate in a research study to determine the bone density, structure and strength adaptations that result from various exercise programs. Compensation is provided.
What you’ll do
If you decide to join this research study, it will take you about 9 weeks to complete the entire study. During this time, you will be asked to make several visits to the University of Pittsburgh Neuromuscular Research Laboratory/Warrior Human Performance Research Center (NMRL) for testing visits. You will also be asked to visit the lab 5 days a week for four weeks to take part in a training program.
Who the researchers are looking for
Are you a physically active man between the ages of 18-40 and interested in military training programs? You may be eligible to participate in a research study to determine the bone density, structure and strength adaptations that result from various exercise programs. Compensation is provided.

Are you overweight or obese? You may be eligible for a research study looking at how exercise can improve your heart health. Participants will receive a personalized exercise program you will be monitored by a trained exercise specialist. Compensation provided.
Are you a physically active woman between the ages of 18-40 and interested in military training programs? You may be eligible to participate in a research study to determine the bone density, structure and strength adaptations that result from various exercise programs. Compensation is provided.
Do you ruck or hike? This study is looking for 18–40-year-olds with backpacking and/or tactical experience for a research study to understand the factors associated with fatigue and recovery from repeated load carriage. Participation involves carrying a rucksack for approximately 90 min, physical performance and metabolic testing, body composition scans and blood draws. Compensation is provided.
